Declassify a Confined Space
If a confined space is eliminated or made inaccessible (for example, the entry is sealed off), the space can be declassified so that the confined space documents are no longer available.
To declassify a confined space:
- Point to the Confined Space tab and then click Existing Files.
- Select the Site, Area, and Equipment where the confined space is located and then scroll down to the Confined Space Documents section.
- Point to the assessment for the confined space that you want to declassify and click Edit Document. Edit Document is only visible if the assessment is in the draft state (indicated with a pencil icon) or is published (indicated with a ribbon icon). The assessment opens for editing.
- Scroll down to the Declassification section and click The space is already declassified.
- Type a reason for declassifying the confined space.
- Scroll up to the top and click Save.
- Click Publish. This step is necessary to mark the space as declassified on the Find/Create Files page.
If you want to classify this space as a confined space again in the future, open the assessment again and in the Declassification section click The space is eligible for declassification but currently is not.
